Although carnivorous plants require a lot of time and effort than compared to other plants, they can be a great source of decoration for your home. Furthermore, the scent these plants release to lure insects can be quite pleasing to the human nose. Yet, despite their vileness to insects, these plants are completely harmless to humans and animals. Thus, these plants can not only be educational for children but also safe around them. Here is a list of some carnivorous plants that are pleasing to the eyes:
During observation, visionaries like Bill Mollison, Dan Jason and many other gardeners found that Mother Nature had a lot to teach us about feeding ourselves. One such lesson was in regard to soil nutrition. There are a number of plants that absorb nutrients from the air, process and release them into the soil for other plants to use. A few good examples are beans and lemon. Both of these plants absorb nitrogen from the air through their leaves, process it and release it into the soil through their roots. So instead of using nitrogen fertilizer, why not grow beans and lemons strategically, to fertilize the soil? For example, you could inter-crop beans and maize so that the maize benefits from the nitrogen released into the soil by the beans.
Dymondia margaretae has very slim and tiny leaves and so produces a fine, delicate texture. The leaves have a bluish-gray tint, making the plant associate perfectly with the glaucous foliage typical of many Mediterranean climate plants, such as Lavender, Juniper, Rosemary, and Santolina, while conversely, combining less well with large-leaved, tropical plants. Remember that gray and bluish-green, are colors of heat and aridity. Dymondia's tiny, prostrate, yellow flowers are not especially significant.
